Submitted on October 19, 2020

Although Tiger fans will have to wait a few more months for football season to kickoff, Georgetown College took the opportunity this past weekend to honor some outstanding students with a homecoming court event on South Campus Quad. It simply wouldn’t be fall at GC without the crowning of a King and Queen.

In a socially distanced, outdoor event which was also broadcast on the college’s Facebook page, nominees from each class were introduced. Freshmen nominees included: Abby Perry, Harrison Booher, Lauren Walters, Kobie Wessling, Marina Smart, and Montrell Page. Sophomores honored at the ceremony included: Haleigh Muniz, Chase Scobee, Katie Milby, Jake Damron, Madison Brady, and TJ Hensley.

Juniors nominated for prince and princess included: Alex Perry, Cole Wilson, Emily Reedy, Tyler Evans, Madison Patton, and Sam Clark. Finally, those seniors nominated to potentially be named King and Queen included: Jessalyn Brown, Katelynn Horton, Tatum Miller, Raeann Fultz, and William Thomas.

President Jones attended to honor those named princes and princesses, along with the eventually-named King and Queen. The honor of being named prince and princess, which was voted on by their fellow students, was bestowed upon: Cole Wilson and Emily Reedy, Chase Scobee and Haleigh Muniz, and Kobie Wessling and Abby Perry.

Finally came the moment of excitement each year at GC, when a King and Queen are named. The King and Queen represent the student body in their dedication, kindness, and spirit. This year, the 2020 Homecoming King is Tatum Miller, and the Homecoming Queen is Raeann Fultz. The Georgetown College community is incredibly proud to be represented by these two students and by all the nominees.

“I want to congratulate all those who were nominated and all those who were selected today as winners,” said President Jones to conclude the ceremony. “You make all of us at Georgetown College proud.”
